What’s ours, what isn’t, and how to ask for a correction.

This site publishes facts about incentive programmes — amounts, eligibility rules and dates — written up in our own words and linked to the source they came from. If you think we have something of yours, or something of yours that we got wrong, there is a route below and a person at the end of it.

Facts, and the writing around them

A rebate amount, an eligibility rule, a funding status and a programme date are facts. Nobody owns a fact, and we state them plainly rather than dressing them up. What we do own is the work around them — the summaries, the comparisons, the territory maps, the gap register, the page copy and the code that serves it.

We do not reproduce the prose from a programme’s own page. Every entry in our record is written from scratch, and the longest of them runs to a couple of sentences. Where you want the original wording, we would rather send you to it: every figure we serve carries a link to the primary source and the date we last read it.

Nothing here was uploaded by anyone else

There are no accounts, no uploads, no comments and no forums on this site. Everything published here was compiled by us. That means the DMCA’s safe-harbour provisions for hosting other people’s material do not apply to Punchlist and we have not registered a designated agent, because there is no third-party content here for one to receive notices about.

That is not a reason to have no process. If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, we want to hear it directly and we will act on it — see below.

How we read a source

We respect robots.txt. Where a programme’s page refuses automated reading, we do not work around it — someone opens the page by hand, or picks up the phone and asks the programme directly. A figure we cannot obtain honestly is published as a gap instead, by name, on the page of what we don’t know.

Asking for a correction or a removal

Two different things, one address. Write to will@punchlistrebates.com and say which you mean.

A correction — a figure, rule or date of ours is wrong or out of date. Tell us the page, what it says, and what it should say. If you are the programme administrator, say so; we will treat your version as authoritative and record you as the source. Anything we cannot immediately confirm comes out of service while we check it, rather than staying up while we argue about it.

A removal — you believe material here infringes your copyright. Please include: the work you say has been infringed, the page and passage on this site you are referring to, your name and contact details, and a statement that you hold the rights or are authorised to act for whoever does.

What happens next. We acknowledge within one business day and give you a decision within five. If the claim is clear, the material comes down first and we discuss it afterwards — the amount of original writing on this site that could plausibly be anyone else’s is small enough that taking it down costs us very little and leaving it up costs you something real.

Using our material

Quote us, cite us, link to us — no permission needed, and a link back is enough. What is not permitted is bulk-exporting the record, reselling it, or redistributing it as a dataset; those limits are set out in our Terms of Service. The distinction is between reading our work and taking it.

If you want the data under a licence rather than around one, ask. We would rather have that conversation than a different one.
